Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides announced on Sunday that women will soon can voluntarily enlist in the National Guard after completing their secondary education.
During a speech at the 60th anniversary event of the National Guard in Nicosia, Christodoulides revealed that women would be able to serve for a minimum of six months and up to 14 months, mirroring the service duration available to men.
The proposal is set to be presented to the Council of Ministers in the coming days, with plans to implement it by 2025, pending parliamentary approval.
