The hunger threshold for family of 4 reaches 17,880 TL

Head of the Cyprus Turkish Public Civil Servant’s Union (KTAMS), Güven Bengihan, announced that the hunger threshold for a family of four has reached 17 thousand 880 TL on November 30.
According to a written statement, Bengihan noted that there is a 2 thousand 130 TL difference between the minimum wage and the hunger threshold. He noted that the minimum wage is equivalent to 430 pounds and the hunger threshold is equivalent to 489 pounds.
Bengihan added that high inflation has led to consumers’ purchasing power to rapidly decrease. He also mentioned that protecting the cost of living by increasing salaries every 6 months is not the way to protect purchasing power anymore.
“It is evident how justified our request for more frequent adjustments to salaries is” Bengihan was cited as saying.
