Hailstorm hit Nicosia on Monday


 

The heavy rain and hail caused serious problems yesterday afternoon in Nicosia.
The hailstorm lasted about 30 minutes and transformed roads into torrents and posed significant challenges for residents and commuters.
The Fire Department has received over 70 distress calls, particularly from the municipalities of Tseri, Latsia, Lakatamia and Strovolos.
Fire crews were engaged in extensive efforts to address the damage.

Many vehicles were stuck in the middle of the road due to heavy rain and hail.

Vehicle traffic was blocked for hours as the main streets in the capital turned into torrents. The teams of the municipalities, worked throughout the night to rearrange the traffic and solve the problems that arose.
