The Cancer Research Foundation traditional event, the Orchid Walk, will take place next Sunday, April 28 at the Dilekkaya Forest.

Prof. Dr Mustafa Camgöz, President of the Cancer Research Foundation, and Özge Özbekoğlu, President of the CENGO V Foundation, provided information to BRT on the event and the joint efforts of the two foundations.

The 21st Orchid Walk, a collaboration between the Cancer Research Foundation and the Süleyman Cengiz Eminoğlu – CENGO-V Foundation, will be held on the walking trail in Dilekkaya Forest on Sunday, April 28th.

The event, sponsored by Telsim and held in collaboration with the CENGO-V Foundation, will raise funds that, as every year, will be used for cancer research by the foundation.

Speaking to BRT on the issue, Mustafa Camgöz, President of the Cancer Research Foundation, emphasized that the 21st Orchid Walk is organized with the aim of understanding Cancer, raising awareness, and implementing scientific studies to defeat cancer.

Camgoz stated that the Cancer Research Foundation is the only foundation in Northern Cyprus conducting research on cancer, and their goal is to contribute to scientific studies that address cancer, an inevitable global issue of the modern era.

Highlighting the serious collaboration with Cengo V Foundation over the past 3 years, Camgöz recalled that through the foundation’s collaboration, a new drug has been developed to combat neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer.

He explained that while research is being conducted on environmental factors such as soil and water analyses related to cancer in Northern Cyprus, laboratory studies are ongoing at the Imperial College to develop drugs.
