One arrested for trying to smuggle drugs across the border


 

One individual was arrested yesterday at the Metehan checkpoint at around 11 pm, following a police raid under the name “Panzehir” operation by the Prevention of Narcotics and Smuggling team.
Following a police search conducted in a 27-year-old’s vehicle a substance believed to be cannabis weighing 1,500 grams and 640 Euro in cash believed to be obtained from drug sales was detected. The 27-year-old was detected by police while attempting to cross from the South to the North via the Metehan checkpoint in Lefkoşa.
An investigation continues.
