According to a police report, counterfeit money has been circulating in Girne.
A total of fake 100 USD notes (amounting to 3,000 USD) have been circulated by a customer twice at a casino in Girne on July 30th and August 20th.
Police issued a warning stating that there is a possibility of the fake USD 100 banknotes being circulated earlier and therefore called on banks, foreign exchange bureaus, finance companies, markets, and citizens to be extra cautious and look out for the serial numbers when making purchases or sales. The police also called on the public to report anyone that they believe to be suspicious.
The serial numbers of the fake USD bank notes are as follows:
