Massive corruption in North Cyprus medicine sector

A major profiteering was committed in North Cyprus, where some doctors, pharmacists, and drug stores were involved.
It has been revealed that some self-employed physicians, made undercover agreements with other pharmacies and pharmaceutical warehouses, and received prescriptions written in other patients’ names without the consent of the patients. It has been reported that these individuals had shared the money they received from the state with one another.
While one doctor wrote 6 thousand prescriptions in a month, the state experienced a loss of over 90 million TL.
Minister of Labor Sadık Gardiyanoğlu announced that all evidence found was handed over to the Police yesterday.
Gardiyanoğlu said that corruption takes place every year as more than 100 thousand prescriptions are written illegally.
He also said that this may be the biggest irregularity encountered in the country so far.
Gardiyanoğlu announced that they will continue to address the issue regardless of political identity.
