It has been reported that a total of 35 people have been arrested following the prescription forgery case that has shook North Cyprus. The 35 arrested suspects are 12 doctors and 15 pharmacists from five different districts.
Several assistants and citizens were also taken in by police for having connections for tampering with evidence.
According to the figures submitted to court by the police, 476 prescriptions, out of thousands sent to the Social Security Department were fake.
During this period, unexpected incidents also took place. Some pharmacists tried to destroy fake documents by burning them or soaking them in water. Others stuffed thousands of barcode cut medicine packets into garbage bags and threw them away.
