Former President Talat “Hristodulidis is more against a solution than Anastasiadis”

Former Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat said that the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Hristodulidis is more against a solution in Cyprus, than the former Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiadis.
Speaking to Yenidüzen, this situation should be exposed to the World, Talat said.
He added that Türkiyes’ and the Turkish Cypriot sides’ policy must be changed for a more positive outcome.
Talat said, “It is necessary to start pursuing a policy in favor of a solution and to explain this to the world. There is no other way. Türkiye has much bigger problems to deal with. Türkiye may be a little more hesitant on this issue but we should be able to explain this to Türkiye. “The only way to change the Cyprus policy is to explain this situation and these facts to Türkiye,” he said.

“AKINCI BROUGHT UP THE TWO STATE SOLUTION”

Talat mentioned the words former Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akıncı used at the Crans Montana negotiations, “This was the final efforts of our generation for a solution” adding that Mustafa Akıncı brought up the issue of a two state solution. Stating that Mustafa Akıncı retired after the Crans Montana negotiaton process, Mehmet Ali Talat criticized the situation and stated that no effort has been made to solve the Cyprus problem since.

“YOU SHOULD NOT TRAVEL IN A DREAM WORLD”

Pointing out the importance of dialogue and communication with Turkey, Talat said, “We should not wander in a dream world. Just as right-wing circles walk in a dream world, some left circles should not think that they can solve the Cyprus problem by fighting against Turkey.” Pointing out that activities are carried out in many areas with Turkey’s direct intervention and suggestions, Talat said, “We are going through days where we cannot elect our own mufti, we cannot make our own decisions, even the prime minister is appointed from outside, and the president is elected by force. Such a thing has never been seen in history…”
