Cleanup operation at beaches

In an effort to raise environmental awareness and contribute to beach cleanliness, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, is conducting cleanup operations across beaches in four different areas.

According to a statement from the ministry, teams have been deployed to clean the beaches of Gazimağusa ( Famagusta) İskele ( Trikomo) Yeniboğaziçi (Ayios Seryios), and Tatlısu (Akanthou).

These efforts, carried out twice daily, aim to enhance environmental consciousness and maintain the cleanliness of the coastal areas, particularly during the busy summer months.

The ministry’s statement highlighted that the cleanups are focused on heavily populated beach areas.

Despite the availability of trash bins, waste is often carelessly discarded, especially during the evening hours when more trash is collected.

“The cleanup efforts are intended to set an example and emphasize that it is the responsibility of the entire community to be more conscious about environmental cleanliness,” the statement read.

By organizing these cleanups, the ministry hopes to inspire greater public participation and commitment to maintaining the beauty and hygiene of the region’s beaches.
