CTP leader Erhürman “The property structure will not be predictable unless the Cyprus problem is resolved”

The leader of the main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman referred to the statement issued by the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister regarding the Greek Cypriot properties remaining in the North, adding that the statements were intended to create concern.
Erhürman pointed out that this was a political initiative.
Speaking at the General Assembly of the Parliament, Erhürman reminded of the recent arrest of Lawyer Akan Kürşat in Italy.
He drew attention to the statements of the Greek Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs and said that the issue was not personal and that the Greek Cypriot administration was only aiming to create concern.
Erhürman added that it would not be right to sell property to foreigners against these initiatives that are made not only for legal but also for political purposes. He stated that the issue that has begun with one person today will concern property sales in the North in general.
He reminded of past cases regarding Greek Cypriot properties and touched upon the importance of the Immovable Property Commission (IPC) in this context and said that property structures will not be predictable unless the Cyprus problem is resolved.
Erhürman pointed out that the issue is not personal describing the Greek Cypriot administration’s efforts as insincerity as they have turned it into a personal issue.
Tufan Erhürman questioned why the lawyer was arrested in Italy and not in the South of Cyprus. He added that they will have more information on the issue following the upcoming case that will be taking place on January 16.
