CTP Women’s Organization met with Greens Group in Brussels


 

As part of their contacts in Brussels, the delegation of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Women’s Organization met with the Greens Group officials of the European Parliament.

According to the information given, the head of the CTP Women’s Organization Doğuş Derya, Foreign Relations Secretary Simge Okburan, Women’s Labor and Economy Secretary Bilen Sayılı, Struggle against Violence and Local Administrations Secretary Aslı Murat, Queer Politics and Minority Rights Secretary Berna Numan attended the meeting. Representing the Greens Group the Rights and Gender Equality Consultants Myrthe Bovendeaard, Laura Antón Montero, and Griselda Ballester Tataret were also present at the meeting.

The economic and social problems experienced in north Cyprus due to the unsolved Cyprus Problem, as well as the efforts to promote the use of ecology, women’s rights, and sustainable green energy were discussed during the meeting held at the European Parliament.

Following the evaluation of joint studies and collaborations, the head of the CTP Women’s Organization Doğuş Derya referred to the deepening economic crisis that has caused an increase in women’s unemployment and impoverishment.
Stating that the growing rentier economy in the north of the island has increased the ecological destruction, Derya referred to the technical and financial support that should be provided to the Turkish Cypriots within the framework of the “Green Deal”.
