Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides has denied reports that ENI intends to sell its rights in Cyprus’ EEZ.
When asked if he was concerned about ENI selling its hydrocarbon exploration rights in Cyprus’ EEZ, he stated that “we have spoken with ENI, there is absolutely no intention in relation to the EEZ of the Republic of Cyprus.”
ENI, the Italian oil company, was believed to be considering divesting from specific projects.
Bloomberg reported on Monday, citing anonymous sources, that ENI intends to divest more than $4 billion in upstream assets, with Indonesia and Cyprus among the prospective targets.
Energy Minister George Papanastasiou declined to comment on the report, stating that Nicosia lacks relevant information.
