An explosion was reported on a Malta-flagged “MT AQASIA” oil tanker off the coast of Derinya, Gazimağusa (Famagusta).
Two people were injured after the explosion caused a spiral machine to cut through an empty barrel.
The injured were taken off the ship by Coast Guards and taken to the Gazimağusa (Famagusta) State Hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
