The Geçitkale Airport has been handed over to the military in North Cyprus.
The Protocol (Approval) Draft Law on the Allocation of Geçitkale Airport and the Granting of Usage Rights to the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces Command between the TRNC Government and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye was unanimously accepted in the Parliament yesterday.
GEÇİTKALE WILL NOT BE USED AS A MILITARY BASE
The Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader and Deputy Tufan Erhürman made statements regarding the Bill and said, “As Geçitkale will not be used as a military base, it can be used as an alternative airport in the case any problems occur at Ercan Airport and will also be opened to air sports. As the Republican Turkish Party we approve the Bill.”
