Interconnector protocol to be signed between Türkiye – North Cyprus!


 

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel who is in Ankara, will be signing a protocol with the Republic of Türkiye for electricity to be brought to North Cyprus via cable.
The protocol is expected to be signed between Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Türkiye Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, today at 2 pm.
Ahead of his departure to Ankara, Üstel spoke to the press following meetings with the National Unity Party (UBP) Party Assembly and the Central Executive Board.
Üstel said that he had briefed the Central Executive Board and the party Assembly on his Ankara visit and the work to take place for the opening of the Ercan Airport on July 20th.
Stating that they aim to end all of the problems experienced at Ercan airport and on the electricity issue, Prime Minister Üstel said that they desired to solve all of the problems for the benefit of future generations. Referring to the energy issue, Üstel said that an international protocol has been prepared between Türkiye and North Cyprus for the interconnector system to ensure the security of the energy supply.
Üstel said that studies will be carried out in line with protocol adding that these efforts will take a year.
