More medicine found dumped in garbage areas!

Despite the shortage of medicine in north Cyprus and the hardships patients face to get hold of medication, hundreds of medicines have been found in garbage and empty lands.

Last weekend hundreds of medicine packets were found in garbage containers in Lefkoşa (Nicosia), now a similar scene was detected in the Türkeli (Agios Vasileios) village yesterday.
Hundreds of medicines with cut barcodes were found near a water tank in Akdağ in the Türkeli (Agios Vasileios) village.

According to a police statement, staff from the Gönyeli (Kioneli) – Alayköy (Gerolakkos) Municipality who found garbage bags, with a large number of barcode-cut medicine packets, and pills dumped, handed them over to the police. Police and municipal police handed in 14 garbage bags full of medicine.
A pharmacist believed to have connections with the dumped medicines has been arrested.
