A 24-year-old, who was seriously injured in an accident on the Girne-Karaoğlanoğlu road at around 9.25 yesterday evening, has died.
According to a police report, driver Aliye İNANOĞLU (F-32) of vehicle register number plate KM 004 who was heading towards Alsancak collided with a vehicle driven by Erdem HONDURLU (M-24), register number DZ 244 whilst attempting to overtake vehicles on the Merit Park Hotel junction.
The drivers of both vehicles and passengers in the DZ 244 registered vehicle Süleyman KOCABAŞ (M-21), İbrahim KAYNARCA (M-22), Adem KOCABAŞ (M-24), were taken to the Girne Akçiçek State Hospital.
Adem KOCABAŞ who was seriously injured could not be saved despite all efforts.
While Erdem HONDURLU is being treated at the Girne Dr Akçiçek Hospital, the rest of the injured have been transferred to the Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkoşa.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
