Tatar “The EU’s attitude is one of bullying, oppression, injustice and lawlessness”

Turkish Cypriot Leader Ersin Tatar blamed the UN and EU for imposing an embargo on the Turkish Cypriots and advocating for a federation-based system in Cyprus.

He claimed that such a system would result in the disappearance of the Turkish Cypriots and create difficulties for them in the EU.

Tatar made evaluations to the Anadolu Agency (AA) on issues that are on the agenda.

Referring to the calls for the resumption of negotiations, which have been frequently voiced by the Greek Cypriot Leader in recent days, Tatar said that the Greek Cypriots only stipulate the confirmation of their sovereign and equal international status as a condition for the negotiation process and insist on a federation-based approach.

Tatar believed that the Turkish Cypriots would face negative consequences if they did not pursue independence and freedom as a separate sovereign state and vowed to avoid falling into the trap of an imposed solution.
Tatar also criticized the EU for pressuring the Turkish side to negotiate within the UN framework and accused them of bullying, oppression, injustice, and lawlessness.

Additionally, he defended the presence of Turkish soldiers on the island, stating that it brought peace not only to the Turkish Cypriots but the Greek Cypriots as well.
