Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar called on the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), the USA and other countries to “fulfil the promises they made to the Turkish Cypriot people during the Annan Plan referenda”.
Tatar said, “We will bring the promises made at the referendum to the agenda at every anniversary and will continue to show that the promises made were not kept.”
Tatar made statements on the 19th anniversary of the Annan Plan referenda. “My call to the UN, EU and USA is for them to give up on supporting the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo, which played deadlock in Cyprus and dynamited all negotiation processes, and to fulfil the promises made to the Turkish Cypriot people during the April 24, 2004 referenda process,” Tatar said.
Stating that the new policy was supported by the vast majority of the people and determined together with Türkiye, Tatar said “We will not take any steps back on the new and national policy and will continue to walk on this path with determination”.
