Turkish Cypriot community suffers from hypertension


 

Turkish Cypriot community is suffering from hypertension according to Turkish Cypriot Medical Association.
Doctor Gülgün Vaiz, made an informative statement on hypertension on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association due to May 17, World Hypertension Day.
She said 20 percent of the society suffering from hypertension which , this rate occurs with age.
She stated that 50 percent of people over the age of 60 undergo surgery, so it is necessary to be examined by a doctor at least once a year.
Vaiz noted that the blood pressure returns to its normal level after treated by necessary drugs.
She has shared the following information about vascular damage: “Hypertension can cause cerebral hemorrhage, stroke, loss of vision, heart attack, visual artery disease, rupture of the aorta. It is possible to prevent these complications if blood pressure is treated.”
