Lawyer Akan Kürşat has been acquitted following the case filed against him at the Nicosia (Greek Cypriot District Court. The court ruled that lawyer Akan Kürşat did not commit any crime regarding the sale of Greek Cypriot properties in Northern Cyprus
. The court case has been closed. Lawyer Akan Kürşat, who was extradited to South Cyprus after being arrested in Italy on December 30 on grounds that he was involved in the purchasing and selling of old Greek Cypriot properties in Girne (Kyrenia), and then released on bail, was brought before the Nicosia (Greek Cypriot) District Court again today.
Kürşat’s lawyer, Hasan Esendağlı, Head of the Turkish Cypriot Bar Association, issued a statement to the Turkish Agency Cyprus (TAK) that the case was closed after the Greek Cypriot Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office declared that it did not have any witnesses or evidence that could prove the accusations against Akan Kürşat.
Esendağlı said that there is no evidence that Akan Kürşat committed any crime regarding the sale of Greek Cypriot properties in North Cyprus and that the court decided to free Kürşat of all crimes and cancel all warrant conditions brought forward on the case.
