Use of plastic bags valid until 31 December 2024

The ban on plastic bags in North Cyprus has been postponed to a further date.
Following the lawsuit filed on the grounds that the 6-month transition period regarding the prohibition of the use of plastic bags was insufficient, the ban on the use of plastic bags has been postponed until 31 December 2024.
The Director of the Environmental Protection Department Abdullah Aktolgalı noted that the price of bags sold in the markets has been increased to 1 TL as of June 5. Aktolgalı noted that markets that give free plastic bags should be reported.
Pointing to the importance of how harmful plastic products are to the environment, Aktolgalı urged citizens to reduce the use of plastic.
