Üstel sets out plan to link minimum wage to cost of living

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that the private sector will not be left behind during the increase in the cost of living.

Speaking at the Parliament, Üstel noted that they will be working further to ensure people are always paid in line with the cost of living.

The previous minimum wage was determined as 24,000 TL net, and 27,587 TL gross in January 2024.

A meeting is expected to be held at the end of April to determine the Minimum Wage, following Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu’s announcement of the cost of living being reflected in the minimum wage every 4 months.

SERDAROĞLU “A MEETING SHOULD BE HELD ON MAY 13 AT THE LATEST”

According to the law, a meeting should be held for the minimum wage by May 13 at the latest, Workers’ Representative Ahmet Serdaroğlu said.
He reminded that the 3-month cost of living is 16.11 percent.
During the meeting, Serdaroğlu emphasized that the base figure for the cost of living will be 4 months.

BAŞMAN “LET’S SEE THE FIGURES FIRST”

Speaking on behalf of the employers, Ali Başman stated they were unaware that the minimum wage meeting was to be held.

“Let’s see the figures first,” Başman was cited as saying adding that they will be there as long as they are called to the meeting.
