Work will begin at the Metehan (Agios Dometios) border crossing in order to improve services between the North and South of Cyprus.
Head of Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association (CTBCA) Cafer Gürcafer announced that work at the borders will begin from the Metehan (Agios Dometios) border first and the necessary work will then be carried out at other borders.
The work will be carried out within the framework of the protocol, “For the improvement of services at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) border crossings”.
According to Bağımsız Gazette, the works to be carried out at the Metehan Border are as follows:
-An additional lane will be added to the border in order to ease the crossings at the checkpoint.
-Cafeteria and toilets will be checked and reorganized.
-Lighting, painting, and daily maintenance work will be carried out.
Gürcafer stated that work and arrangements will also be carried out at the crossing points in order to ease the congestion caused at the north side.
He noted that a meeting will be held with the Minister of Public Works and Transportation to discuss the overhaul and lane widening of the road between the Metehan (Agios Dometios) crossing checkpoint and the Metehan roundabout.
