Five people who were detected digging without a permit in the Çamlıbel forest at around 11.30 pm Monday were arrested.
According to a police report, three individuals aged 24, 25 and 23 were caught red-handed by police, while digging in an attempt to find antiquities.
Meanwhile, two other individuals, aged 22 and 43, who are thought to have connections with the incident were also arrested.
An investigation into the incident continues.
