Power cuts expected this summer!

Head of Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (EL-SEN) Ahmet Tuğcu, said that power outages will be inevitable this summer if the necessary investments and repairs are not equipped for the Teknecik Power Plant.
Tuğcu stated that an energy deficit of approximately 60-70 megawatts is expected this summer.
He emphasized that electricity will be requested from South Cyprus, but that if this is not realized, then power outages will be inevitable. Even if the investment decision was to be taken today, a timeframe of 15 months is needed.
Speaking to Bağımsız Gazette, Tuğcu mentioned that more power cuts are expected due to the malfunction of Machine 7 and Machine 8 at the Power Plant. He said that the parts for Machine 7 have just arrived, and the funds for Machine 8 have not been paid completely due to disagreements on its insurance.
Tuğcu stressed the importance of maintenance, repair, and investment at the Teknecik Power Plant.
