Larnaca Mayor criticizes port developer over new fees

Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras expressed his indignation on Friday regarding Kition Ocean Port’s decision to implement new fees for boats at the marina’s old dock.

Speaking to Phileleftheros, Mayor Vyras stated, “I am firmly against any price increases for marina and port users, especially since the promised renovations have not yet begun.”

He described the move as “unacceptable and provocative,” criticizing the developer for underestimating the community’s intelligence. He urged the government to intervene and take strict actions to prevent such increases.

Kition Ocean Port has also introduced a €100 monthly rental fee for kiosks at the marina entrance, requiring payment for three months in advance by May 1. Boat operators have been informed they need to clear their debts by April 30 or face the possibility of their kiosks being removed.
