North Cyprus unions criticized the insistence put forward to open the new Ercan Airport without complying with the legislation and with infrastructure deficiencies.

KTAMS, KAMU-İş and KAMU-SEN issued a press statement yesterday in front of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportion.
The unions pointed out that the new Ercan Airport, announced to be opened on 20 July, was not technically ready and that the regulations regarding Airport Construction, Development, Licensing and Operation Certification was not followed.
The unions emphasized that they are not against the opening of the airport, but put forward the importance of its safety.
