Police Headquarters warn of scammers targeting Facebook and Instagram Accounts


 

It has been detected that scammers have opened fake Facebook and Instagram accounts, and are using such platforms to promote giveaway prizes and are unlawfully obtaining money.
According to a police report, scammers are using an Instagram account ‘Baykara GSM’ claiming to promote mobile giveaway prizes and are victimizing people by unlawfully obtaining money from their bank accounts. Stating that a ‘1 iPhone 14 Pro Max’ had been won as a price the scammers obtained money from the victim following a bank transfer for shipping, VAT, and ESN (Electronic Serial Number) for a total of 4.740 TL.
The public has been warned to be vigilant and in order to avoid similar grievances, not to make any payments to accounts for sales via social media platforms without physically seeing the item.
