Limassol Municipality celebrated the official opening of a new park on Sunday. Named Zakaki Park, the project, totaling €1,903,000, was inaugurated by Dr. Maria Panayiotou, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment, in the presence of dignitaries and a large crowd.
Situated on Gauguin Street, Zakaki Park spans 10,000 square meters, making it the city’s second-largest park after the Public Garden. Designed by architects Stelios Lakkotrypis, Maria Lianou, and Alexandros Christofini, the park aims to provide a sustainable and functional communal space through infrastructure restoration and greenery enhancement.
The project encompasses various amenities, including a circular square serving as the focal point for gatherings and events, an adult fitness area, playground, space for a small mobile café, social gathering area, circular reflexology path, open-air theater for screenings and performances, observatory, table tennis area, walking paths with green corridors, outdoor seating, vegetable garden, facilities for disabled individuals, and a rainwater collection and irrigation system.
