Two injured in a road collision in Ayia Napa


A 17-year-old teenager of Paralimni is in a extremely critical condition after sustaining injuries in a road collision that occurred last night in Ayia Napa.

An 18-year-old was also injured during the accident, who is being treated at a private clinic in the province of Famagusta.

According to a police statement, the road collision happened around 10.30pm yesterday, on Cabo Greco Avenue, in Ayia Napa.

The teenagers were riding a motorcycle driven by the 18-year-old. Under circumstances being investigated by the police, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn and injuring both of the passengers.

The 18-year-old was taken to a private clinic in the province of Famagusta, where he was detained for treatment, after it was found that he has broken ribs and abrasions on various parts of his body.

The 17-year-old was initially taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where it was found that he had suffered a brain injury. Due to his health condition, he was intubated and taken to Nicosia General Hospital, where he is being treated. His health condition is described by the treating doctors as extremely critical.

The Ayia Napa Police Station is investigating the cause of the accident.
