Famagusta Mandres area spreading disease to the environment!


The Ağıllar (Mandres) area in Gazimağusa ; (Famagusta) is experiencing an environmental disaster. Environmental pollution created next to 55 farms is threatening public health.

According to Bağımsız Gazete, authorities are turning a blind eye to the health of animals and people working in the environment, as milk and meat products are being produced.

More than 100 sewage trucks dump untreated sewage water onto open lands every day.

There are countless stray dogs wondering about in the garbage dump area. Flies, which are on the rise especially in the summer months are spreading diseases due to dead farm animals and sewage truck waste being dumped into open lands in the area.

Local people expressed their feelings saying that although there is a treatment facility in the Gazimağusa (Famagusta) region, the facility is not operating due to various problems and that unpurified dirty water is being dumped onto open lands.
