An individual attempting to smuggle 190 kilograms of beef across from the South to the North via the Metehan checkpoint in Lefkoşa at around 3.15 pm yesterday was detected by police. Following a police operation, the 36-year old was caught red-handed with the meat in the vehicle the individual was driving whilst attempting to smuggle it over to the North of the island, the police said. The person in question has been arrested and an investigation continues.
