Teachers protest against government!


 

Teachers’ continue to strike in North Cyprus. Teachers are protesting in front of the Parliament building today demanding for the withdrawal of the Teachers (Amendment) Bill that will be discussed in the Republics Assembly.
The Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union (KTÖS) and the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers’ Union (KTOEÖS) announced that they were against the proposed amendment to the Teachers (Amendment) Law. The two unions were on strike at many schools last week, both over the change in the law and the deficiencies at the schools.
Various non-governmental organizations and parties also supported the teacher unions by participating in the protest.
Police are taking extensive security measures in front of the Parliament building, it has been reported.
